Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!
This dark ride gets overlooked because it sits in Hollywood Land between flashier options and does not have the IP visibility of a Cars or Marvel property. That is exactly why the line rarely cracks 20 minutes. The ride vehicle takes you through a recreation of the movie's final act -- Monstropolis at night, a city of monsters trying to capture Boo. The gags are dense, the animatronics hold up, and it is one of the few genuine dark rides in the park.
Ride it first thing in the morning as a warmup, or use it as a midday break when Radiator Springs Racers is at its peak wait.

Lamplight Lounge -- The Hidden Room
Lamplight Lounge on Pixar Pier is the park's best bar and one of the better sit-down dining guide spots. The upstairs dining room is well-known. The downstairs lounge is quieter and covered in Pixar memorabilia. What almost nobody finds is the back room -- a private space accessed through a handle you crank on the wall. Turning it opens a vault door into a room called The Office that doubles as a private dining space. It is reservation-only for larger parties, but even seeing the mechanism and knowing it exists is worth a detour.

Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
This outdoor playground behind Grizzly River Run is built for kids but almost always uncrowded. There are rock scrambles, rope bridges, and tire zip lines. The zip lines require being under 13 and between 42 and 63 inches tall. family guide with kids in that window, it is 30 minutes of unstructured play in shade -- rare in a theme park.
Most guests skip it because it is not a ride. Their loss.

Mater's Junkyard Jamboree

The wait is almost always under 15 minutes, it is in the heart of Cars Land, and it is one of those rides that leaves adults smiling despite themselves. Go in the evening when the Cars Land neon signs light up.

Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters
Another Cars Land underdog. The cars spin in choreographed patterns set to Italian folk music. You have no control -- your roadster just dances. It sounds underwhelming and it kind of is, but the queue area in Cars Land is one of Disney's most detailed outdoor environments and the wait rarely exceeds 15 minutes. Stack it with Mater's for a quick Cars Land double.

Silly Symphony Swings
These are standard swing-chair rides executed with Disney theming. They are in Paradise Gardens near Pixar Pier, and the view from the top of the swing arc is one of the better park panoramas -- you can see the Incredicoaster track, the bay, and Pixar Pier spread out below. The wait rarely exceeds 20 minutes and it clears the queue fast.

Hollywood Land's Rainbow Mosaics
This one is not a ride -- it is a detail. On the left side of Hollywood Land near the entrance to the Animation Building, there is a wall with benches and a sprawling set of rainbow tile mosaics. Most guests walk by staring at their phones. It is a good rest stop and worth pausing for if you are into park architecture.

When to Ride the Hidden Gems
The best time to hit underrated rides is late afternoon, roughly 2-4 PM, when the crowds are at peak volume at the headliners. Everyone is queued for Radiator Springs or Guardians. The rest of the park is quieter than it will be all day. Run through Monsters Inc., Mater's, Luigi's, and Animation Academy back to back and you will not wait more than 15 minutes for any of them.
