Tap “Arm” before you board, stash your phone, and ride free. If anything goes wrong, your watch buzzes — and if the phone actually walks off, your recovery contacts know within seconds.
Secured Mode
For anything that shouldn’t be touched at all. Any motion or 50m+ displacement instantly triggers the alarm screen. Your watch is notified, the phone vibrates, and you have 10 seconds to disarm before the siren fires and your recovery contacts are pinged.
Coaster Basket Mode
For phones that will get jostled during the ride. Tolerates short bumps. 10 seconds of sustained motion OR 50m+ displacement triggers the alarm screen. The siren + recovery-contact alert only fires if the phone actually leaves the area (50m+).
Recovery Contacts · if it really walks off
You pick the people who get notified when an alarm escalates — family on your Thoosie account, plus up to a few outside numbers/emails. They get the phone’s last location, your first name, and a tap-to-call link the second the alarm fires.
And if a stranger finds the phone first: the lock screen shows a polite owner card with your first name, an optional reward you set, and a QR they can scan to reach you instantly — without exposing your full contact info.

Family
Everyone you marked as family hears you the second you press the mic. Best for “meet me at Intimidator” or “watching the kids on the carousel.”

Auto-active for friends checked into the same park. Family-mode users can toggle to broadcast to family only when both tiers are present.
Direct (1:1)
Tap Talk on someone’s friend row to start a private channel with just them. Their phone or watch buzzes — only they hear it.
How it works under the hood
Apple PushToTalk framework handles the OS layer — lock-screen mic banner, APNs wake when someone broadcasts, and a one-tap mic activate so you never need to unlock. Audio rides our self-hosted relay (wss://livekit.thoosie.app) at 16-bit PCM / 16 kHz mono / 20 ms frames. No LiveKit, no third-party audio SDK, no upload tracking.
Apple Watch runs its own independent PTT app — press the mic on your watch to broadcast even if your phone is in a locker. Press-to-talk, release-to-listen, like every walkie-talkie since 1973.
